Negatives of Spray Tanning

Everyone wants that gorgeous sunkissed glow for spring/summer. It allows your skin to look even and can even make certain skin problems less visible. Fitness models use it during competitions to show better muscle definition and decrease blemishes. We know that sun tanning has a bad wrap, but what about spray tans? This post is for both guys and girls looking for a possible better alternative to tanning. We are going to tell you all about the positives and negatives of spray tanning. We hope you are ready.

Possible Negatives Spray Tanning uses the active ingredient dihyroxyacetone and the FDA or Food and Drug Administration states that it is a safe chemical when applied directly on the skin. The longterm affects of dihyroxyacetone has not been shown, so with anything thing that you use you want to excercise caution. Make sure that you are not inhaling this product and that it is not getting in you mouth inhaling this product can be harmful to your health. Wherever you go to get your Spray tan make sure you research the chemicals they use in their sprays, so that you can make an educated decision on whether you still want to proceed.

Positives of Spray Tans
Who can get a spray tan?
As you can see from the gorgeous Jordan Lace pictured below it doesnt matter your skin color spray tans work on all skin tones.

From the fairest skin to the darkest skin a spray tan can make your skin appear smoother and glow.

How does Spray Tanning Work?
There are 2 most common ways. One is what they call an automatic booth, you are first given instructions and then you walk into the room and are left alone. Second most common way is done with a hand held gun. You get to choose whether you feel more comfortable in a swimsuit or nude. The process can take anywhere from 20 minutes to a 1/2 an hour.

What to look for in a great spray tan?
Not all spray tan technicians are equal there is an art to getting a spray tan, it has be done correctly and evenly. There should not be spots, or uneven streaks.  Get recommendations from friends and even look on Yelp to find a great technician in your area.

After Tan Process
You will normally have to stand infront of a fan to let the spray tan dry for about 20 minutes. Dress loosely because the spray tan will get on clothes. Make sure to shower prior to bed because it can also stain sheets if it a bronzing solution and not clear, however give yourself about 5 hours between spray tan and showering to let spray tan set.

Spray tans will appear different on everyones skin due to the pigment in your skin. Don’t be scared if the water in the shower turns orange, it’s a normal process, some of the tan will bleed.

How long will it last?
5-10 days depending on your skin.

We know why you love your skin bronzed and even looking however with anything use caution and research the place you are going to prior to going. Cheaper is not always better this is your skin and you are spraying something on it that can go into your pores, so always use caution. Their are some great spray tan companies out there.

Most tanning salons offer spray tanning. You can check out Tanfastic, Palm Beach Tan, and Darque Tan. We know for sure these 3 salons offer it and they are nation wide. They have different levels of spray tanning so you should go in for a free consultation. Let us know what you think.
